If a soundtrack for the young, rich and wasted is what you’re after, then look no further than those slick good time boys, The Virgins….according to Rolling Stone Magazine that is.
Having caused a minor stir in 2008 with the release of their self titled debut album, they return a good 5 years later with their second, Strike Gently. Recorded in New York (but of course) the album is being released on uber cool Cult Records, founded by Strokes lead singer Julian Casablancas, “When I first saw The Virgins I was psyched there was such a rad new band from NYC” says he of the inimitable retro-tastic Strokes.
With this kind of scenester brotherhood at hand, as well as having played alongside timeless punk instigators, Iggy and the Stooges, Lou Reed, Sonic Youth and Patti Smith no less, these Virgins will surely have picked up a thing or two along the way.
Be sure to seek out the new album, Strike Gently, released on March 18.
In the meantime, check out their super dooper, 80s inspired MTV video!
