The Blueprint café has added a Saturday brunch menu to its offering, serving up breakfast classics and light meals alongside its already popular menu of contemporary dining dishes.
The café is set within the Design Museum with spectacular views of the Thames. Just up one floor from the museum shop and casual dining café, the Blueprint is positioned perfectly for people watching along our lovely London river, with huge windows along one side filling the restaurant with light.
In keeping with the building in which it is housed, the design influence in the restaurant is strong. A beautiful space which is light and modern with original art and photography adorning the walls.
The Saturday brunch menu is new but a great addition to the restaurant. There is the usual eggs offering of Florentine, Benedict and Royale. There is also a light Spring salad, granola, berries & yogurt, salmon served with cream fraiche and rye bread, among other things.
Somewhat of a traditionalist when it comes to brunch, I went for the eggs royale and my friend for the Florentine. It was the perfect brunch dish; the muffin was fresh and lightly toasted, the eggs were perfectly poached, with a runny middle and a lightly wobbly white and the hollandaise sauce was creamy, buttery and smooth. The smoked salmon was also delicious. It was one of the best egg dishes I’ve had at brunch and having brunched my way around this city, I’ve experienced many. These are also available in half versions in case you have less of an appetite.
The only way to compliment a perfect brunch in my opinion is to serve it with bubbles and the Blueprint didn’t disappoint. Their brunch menu is offered with bottomless prosecco or bloody marys, officially confirming that a beverage at breakfast is more than ok.
Overlooking the Thames we enjoyed a very leisurely brunch in a beautiful setting. With delicious food, free-flowing prosecco and a great coffee menu to finish with, the Blueprint Cafe has perfectly placed their new brunch sitting.
The brunch menu is available from 10am – 2.30pm
