In its 10 years edition, Paris Hip Hop Festival once again impresses us with an eclectic, innovative and ambitious program. The city of Paris shall vibrate to the rhythm of hip-hop culture through music, dance and graffiti, this in the presence of heavily established artists and promising talents.
Sponsored by Sidney – one the first Hip-Hop pioneers in France in the 1980s via his show “HIP HOP” – the Paris Hip Hop Festival will bring numerous conferences, screenings and workshops taking place in Paris and the Ile de France on the sidelines of this fortnight to allow the public and the hip-hop professionals to meet. Programs includes the major exhibition Facing the Wall, a 1000 m2 fresco presented to the public last Friday at the opening in the presence of DJs. The fresco was completed in two months by twenty graffiti artists from around the world. The curious ones can come and admire this monumental work until its destruction in mid-July.
There is no Hip Hop without its dance, thus two major events not to miss: the show Paris Hip Hop Dance in association with Mouv’ Paris at the Casino de Paris and the inevitable battle that will combine the art of dance and beatmaking at the Gaite Lyrique.
To top it up music wise, heavy names were brought in: Wu Tang Clan who inspired a generation of artists. Still as active and effective for almost twenty years, the group will take the stage of Zenith and likely will be the if not one of the highlights of Paris Hip Hop tenth edition.
