Situated at the ME London Hotel, STK London is operated by New York based The ONE Group. As huge fans of steak and meat generally, we were excited about dining at this upscale modern steakhouse.
As soon as we arrive the music and atmosphere immediately put us in a good mood and we started to anticipate exciting things ahead. Upbeat and happy we were lured into a club like environment with delicious smells to remind us that this is a restaurant and a steak one at that.
We sat down and ordered a cocktail aperitif whilst we browsed the menu and settled for a kiss of a rose, a delicious combination of prosecco, rose liquer and fresh cucumber, a very refreshing start to our culinary journey.
Struggling to pick from the extensive menu, we asked our waitress for some advice on the delicious sounding offerings and including her recommendations we eventually settled on four starters between the two of us; the oysters were interesting and came with shots of orange and bourbon, beetroot bloody mary and a passion fruit and fizz one on the side, the swordfish sashimi was yummy and the tuna tarter and wagyu beef sliders did not disappoint, what a delicious way to start – so far so good… We then placed our order for the main event, 2 ribeye steaks (28 day custom-aged USDA prime beef the restaurant is renowned for) with peppercorn sauce, seasonal greens and lobster mac and cheese, plus glasses of Laurent Perrier to wash it down… The steaks were huge and melt in your mouth good, chargrilled to perfection they were tender and juicy, our favourite kind, and the lobster and cheese just perfect. What a truly indulgent evening, we could get used to this!
We opted out of dessert on this occasion, choosing instead another glass of champagne, but the dessert choices sounded incredible, Fairground Attraction: a spectacular confection of candy floss, toffee apples and salt caramel popcorn, chocolate peanut butter and jam donut as well as a classic cheese selection served with quince jam, fig and aniseed bread.
STK was recently voted London’s top American and West End steak restaurant by Open Table Diners Awards and having sampled its delights we can understand why. The staff were friendly, the music uplifting and the food delicious. We especially loved the tuna tartare and sliders starters, we’ll definitely be popping back in very soon and this time we will make room for the dessert!
