Fortunately the chaps at Havana Club and the raconteurs at Kettners have teamed up to produce an immersive event called ‘Nothing Compares to Havana’, which will be opening its doors next week!
Using the trend for Cuba, the sensory tour will take you on story telling journey. You will start with the story of production of Havana Club rums, next you will try your hand (or bar spoon) at mixing your own Cuban Cocktails which will all be set to a hip rattling Cuban Soundtrack.
Once you’ve been baptised by the brand you are set loose to try other Havana rum classics such as the Canchancharra – a Havana club Añejo 3 Años rum, lime, honey and syrup blend.
Modern Mojito alternatives include, Pina De Plata which is a potion made from Havana club Añejo 3 Años rum, Chardonnay, pineapple juice lime and sugar.
Or try the competition winning winter warmer – the Jose Marti, Havana club Añejo 3 Años rum which is stirred with pastis, cloves, tio pepe, lime and sugar.
If all these cocktails leave you feeling a little loose footed, perhaps you should get your feet back on the ground… or on the rocks with Havana Club Añejo 15 Años rum which will be served on ice all evening.
Feeling Peckish – street food tit bits will be available during the event. Including empanadas de Queso (warm cheese parcels), Chicharrones, Tostones (double friend plantain chip), Papas Rellenas (deep fried mash potato balls filled with meat and vegetables) and Frituras De Maiz Tierono (deep friend sweet fritters).
For those feeling more than peckish, the dining institution downstairs will be offering a specially designed Cuban menu including; fleshy swordfish ceviche, Havana & muscovado cured salmon with minted crème fresh and a potato salad.
For mains grilled baby chicken with chorizo, grilled pork chops with mango salad and mojo sauce (wow!), and for puds baked caramalised bananas with Havana ice cream Or mango mousse with a pina colada sorbet.
