Based around the concept of “Love, Share, Enjoy”, multi award winner Chino Latino serves a distinctive menu which draws upon the delicate flavours of China, South East Asia and modern Japan and is designed to be shared in the middle of the table. Located on the South Bank in Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, the restaurant offers a sophisticated twist on the traditional Pan-Asian style of informal eating and drinking.
We chose the Rengin tasting menu which is £49p/p (minimum of two diners). Beautifully presented dishes started appearing pretty soon after – tasty rock shrimp tempura rolls that had a spicy kick were the first to arrive from the maki rolls and salads section of the menu, followed by a beetroot salad which was simple but delicious and the wagyu beef taquitos comprised some interesting flavours. Small dishes of seasame rolls and calamari were good but we felt lacking in something, though the presentation was great. The Chilean sea bass and crayfish gyoza (soft and flavoursome) completed the first part of our meal.
For the mains we had Chilean sea bass which came with broccoli and was melt in your mouth fishy goodness and sirloin steak on hot rocks was succulent and juicy as steak should be.
Dessert was a platter that included chocolate ice cream, guava sorbet, passionfruit cheesecake, selection of fruit, coconut foam and some fruity syrupy thing. Light and exotic.
The food is carefully complemented by a cocktail menu that includes concoctions such as guava and basil daiquiri, elderflower and mint margarita, chilli and ginger caiprinha or if you fancy something simple there’s a decent list of wines to choose from.
The restaurant has a relaxed but buzzy vibe and is located just off the river, so if you are in the area and fancy something different – this is a great choice!
