Heres a little unknown fact: Jonathan King from 10CC named the band this as supposedly an average adults ejaculation yields about 9CC of semen and therefore making 10CC really quite an enviable quantity.
Coming in at a very tolerable measurement, 5CC serve some truly tantalising cocktails all within their latest dimly-lit basement abode.
This newest addition to their portfolio of sunlight dodging, pub bottom feeders is under Electricity Showrooms in Hoxton Square. With multi-coloured disco flooring to set the tone the venue resolutely speaks of roguery and shenanigans – but only for those in the know.
Menu highlights include The Italian Gentleman with rhy bourbon, Campari, sweet vermouth, maraschino and a splash of absinthe, which comes off just as smooth and sumptuously slippery as a any Italian male I have met. The Post Order 9 – not a recorded delivery – was a virtuous blend of demerara rum, rosemary honey, mint and lime juice topped up with hit of fizz.
For the thirstier among us they also offered barrel cocktails (for sharing they tell me) which came in the friend-friendly flavour ‘barerel’y Legal’ which was made with rock candy, cordial and a good splash of rum.
On the side of the decadent drinks courses what better than oysters? Bivalve molluscs not your bag? You could try the rich marinated goats cheese with a hint of chili or perhaps the snog-dodging garlic smoked mackerel and failing all of those options the delicious free range ducks liver pate will be a well deserved edible pause in your cocktail fueled conversations.
As yet another jewel in Hoxton Squares sordid crown, this is the perfect venue to tee-off a date, or to climax a wild night.
